Drummond Rural Kindergarten

We are a 3 teacher Kindergarten and are licensed for 30 children.

At Drummond Kindergarten the teaching and learning is consistent with the principles of the early childhood curriculum Te Whariki. Biculturalism is integrated within our programme through Tikanga and Te Reo Maori. We see ourselves as a family/whanau of learners and value the input of parents.

Children are encouraged and challenged to think creatively, ask questions and make decisions that will promote learning and provoke enquiry. Children are encouraged to take responsibility for themselves and be respectful towards others and their environment. We value our natural environment and share this with the children.

We acknowledge that children learn through play and are encouraged to be active explorers of people, places and things.

We want children to have fun, give things a go and develop confidence within themselves and their own abilities. Be socially competent and have a positive attitude towards learning to help build a platform for future learning.
